“How Does Myriad Games: Magic League Work?”
Excellent question!
Each League season runs for 7 weeks. The first week of each season, players begin with 4 booster packs (any tournament-legal Magic sets you like), and build 40-card-minimum decks. Each week, your card pool will expand and your minimum deck size will increase as your decks gradually grow in power. Starting with the second week, each player adds another booster pack and another 5 cards to the minimum deck size.
Here’s a handy chart to guide you through the League progression:
Week – Total Card Pool – Minimum Deck Size
October 6th – 4 Boosters – 40 card deck
October 13th – 5 Boosters – 45 card deck
October 20th – 6 Boosters – 50 card deck
October 27th – 7 Boosters – 55 card deck
November 3rd – 8 Boosters – 60 card deck
November 10th – 9 Boosters – 65 card deck
November 17th – 10 Boosters – 70 card deck
November 24th – 11 Boosters – 75 card deck
New players can jump into the League anytime!
Off-Season
At the end of each limited League, there are some open dueling weeks before we the next limited League. During these weeks, League participants are encouraged to make League Constructed Decks to play in the weekly League tournament and casual games. League Constructed Decks are 60 card minimum decks. The off-season is a bit more laid back and lets folks experiment with wonky formats (even more so than the already casual limited League weeks).
